Seller: jeandepierre (206) 100%, Location: London, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 173670226679 Parchment, a single leaf, c.220×155mm (ca. 8¾×6 inches), written in two columns of 49 lines, in a compressed gothic bookhand, in brown and red inks, decorated with several initials alternately blue with red flourishing, or vice versa, and a LARGE 15-LINE BLUE AND RED 'PUZZLE' INITIAL FLOURISHED IN RED AND BLUE at the beginning of the Book of James, apparently used as a flyleaf (to judge by the 16th/17th-century scribbled names between the columns and in the margins, apparently including "Simone" and "Geagnoli"), with resultant wear and damage (see scans and photos). Acquired from Bernard Quaritch Ltd., London, 31 October 2000. TextThe recto has the end of the normal prologue to the Book of James (Stegmüller no. 809, ending "... poscentibus denegabo") followed by another, much rarer, prologue and an "Argumentum" (Stegmüller nos. 807 and 806 respectively), and the beginning of the Book of James itself, continuing as far as James 4:16 (to "...
