Item:132874004456AMAZING LATE 13TH-EARLY 14TH CENTURY CANON LAW ILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPT LEAF Rare illuminated medieval manuscript fragment extracted from an early binding, with tiny medieval rotunda-style writing and scholarly annotations, all illuminated with 5 large red adorned and penwork enhanced capitals (ranging from 1-2 lines each), , rubrics, and more, with the date estimated around 1325, possibly earlier. Content unidentified but quick translations of various portions point to an early Church law treatise, and has characteristics of Justinian law leaves from France in the same period. Leaf with some adhesive scars, small holes, shadows and light wear, but in decent shape for age and exposure all these years. Fragment measures 1.5" x 5.5", and is written on both sides.
